Christian theocracy group accuses American Humanist Association of collaborating with “America’s enemies”

Nov 12th, 2008 | By Chris Ray | Category: News

In God We Trust, an extreme right-wing Christian theocracy group, has just released a press release accusing the American Humanist Association of hating America and of collaborating with “America’s Enemies.” According to Council Nedd, the leader of In God We Trust:

The AHA is not some harmless little atheist group. These people hate America and they are working with our nation’s enemies to attack our heritage.

Nedd’s statement was made in response to a series of advertisements taken out by the American Humanist Association on the sides of Washington, DC, buses. The ad reads “Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness sake.”

In God We Trust’s other activities include maintaining a thinly-veiled hit list of politicians and other public figures who oppose In God We Trust’s radical fringe positions on church-state separation and lobbying for a Constitutional amendment permitting the government to subsidize religion on public property. Council Nedd maintains a blog whose posts include proof that God has abandoned the GOP and proudly declaring that his father had to teach him to love Jewish people. In God We Trust can be reached at info@ingodwetrust.org.

  1. And there I was thinking that Bill Donohue’s response was stupid: http://www.catholicleague.org/release.php?id=1513

This is so ridiculous that I’d be surprised if it doesn’t somewhat backfire if the story gets any media exposure. But judging from their website, they seem like a very small group that takes itself way too seriously.

In God We Trust has managed to do the impossible: they’ve out-reactionary’d Bill Donohue.

  2. What loads of absolute shit. I know I’m not alone when I say that I am frequently made to feel significant psychological distress when confronted with the utter stupidity of these large swathes of population - and the way our society facilitates them. What God who viewed humanity as being of special interest would make a human race that is overun with idiocy?

  3. Partially amusing to me, is that I didn’t join the AHA because I thought they were too accomodating. LOL/

  4. Well, an election like this does make me think we’re due for a huge social conservative backlash. Unfortunately.

  5. It’s worth pointing out that the ad reads “so be good for goodness’ sake. I think that’s a grand message.

And I agree with Barry: the post-election conservative backlash will be fierce, but their time has past; they’ll just marginalize themselves with their venomous message.
