Ian Bushfield is a fifth-year Engineering Physics student at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. Bushfield remains the founding president of the U of A Atheists and Agnostics and has been active with the newly formed Society of Edmonton Atheists. He also is participating in an Edmonton Skeptics meetup and is the Western Canada CFI-On Campus Regional Director. Bushfield was raised in a secular household outside of Calgary, Alberta. Although religion ran rampant in the town he went to school, he was always open and comfortable in atheism. Upon entering university he became active with campus life and proceeded to form the UAAA. A long time interest in computers and the internet has led him to start the blog Terahertz, where he discusses science, physics, atheism, and politics. Bushfield has also been featured in the Edmonton Journal and on the UofA's campus radio CJSR. Although he doubts religion will disappear in his lifetime, he hopes that he can convince more than a few people that life is ultimately better without religion.
